Action Alert! Conservation Authorities are under fire

Public hearings are being held to accept comments

Using Budget Bill 229, Schedule 6, the Government of Ontario plans to severely curtail the role of Conservation Authorities. Please urge the Government to withdraw these proposed changes. Conservation Authorities play a vital role in land-use planning and in protecting communities from flooding and other climate change impacts.

The Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs will meet to consider Bill 229, An Act to implement Budget measures and to enact, amend and repeal various statutes.

The Committee intends to hold public hearings in Toronto (via videoconference) on Monday, November 30, 2020, Tuesday, December 1, 2020 and Wednesday, December 2, 2020.

Interested people who wish to be considered to make an oral presentation on Bill 229 are required to register by 5:00 p.m. (EST) on Wednesday, November 25, 2020.

Those who do not wish to make an oral presentation but wish to comment on the Bill may send a written submission by 7:00 p.m. (EST) on Wednesday, December 2, 2020.
