CAG Meeting Summary

The 2nd Council Accountability Group meeting (October 30th, 2019) was a success.

An estimated 65 residents attended including former Local and Regional Councillor Vito Spatafora and former Councillor and former Chair of the Richmond Hill Public Library Board David Bishop.

Thank you to all who were able to attend the meeting!

CAG Meeting Highlights

“Council Meetings 101” – an overview of how the council meetings operate, the different types of meetings and an example of a delegation to council. Review of the September and October council and library meetings was given as well as upcoming meetings of interest in November David Bishop gave a brief synopsis of the events that led up to his decision to resign from the RH Public Library Board Scott Thompson gave an overview of the process he used to craft a response to the City Clerk regarding the Oct 16 Council Public Meeting commercial revitalization of the Downtown Area Marj Andre discussed certain council member’s bullying tactics, including photographing and videoing from the bench.

Throughout the meeting there was lively discussion about various topics and Vito provide an experienced voice to help answer questions.

There is no doubt that the residents of Richmond Hill are engaged and have an active interest in their community and council!

Next meeting, Thursday, November 28th, 7:30 pm, Richmond Hill United Church (Yes, this is a change in date – we had said it would be the day earlier)
