The Special Presentation features Natasha Bascevan

  • Natasha is an urban Anishinaabe, Métis and French kwe. She is a mom, a daughter, a partner, a life-long learner, and an Indigenous Education Consultant. She graduated from OISE with a Masters in Education in Leadership, Policy and Change. Her experiences range from teaching at the York Region District School Board and York University to research experience with the Turtle Island Journal of Indigenous Health, and the National Consortium on Indigenous Medical Education. She continues to advocate for and work with community-based initiatives to promote survivance, resurgence and resistance.

  • Topics of discussion include:

    • Why a land acknowledgement? Who is it for and how to use it?

    • What is our role as citizens?

a. Reconciliation in Canada: Where are we at? What is our capacity to grow how spaces are used and build capacity?

b. Recognizing your own journey: So you want to be a changemaker? How will you move from allyship to being an accomplice without getting in the way?
