Richmond Hill Fire Snuffed Out!

Greg Horton, President Richmond Hill Professional Fire Fighters Association addressed the Budget Committee of the Whole last Wednesday Nov. 27th.

He wanted to make sure that the 2018 Fire Master Plans recommendations which includes hiring more firefighters would be considered given the current budget restraint of a <1% tax increase. Greg’s concern lies in the safety of our firefighters and the public.

About 90 seconds into his delegation Greg states “I don’t think it’s anyone’s intention to put people at risk in the community” then Councillor Perrelli suddenly bellows “point of order, those words cause me grave concern” citing legal concerns and called for a closed session.

The council went into closed session and upon return Budget Chair Dipaola told a confused Greg that he was not allowed to continue making his delegation. No explanation given when Greg asked why.
