The January 26th Public Library Board Meeting went as exactly as expected in regards to Mahnaz Shahbazi. Chair Greg Beros said something like "she had requested the absences and he had approved but forgot to bring it to the Board for resolution". Beros then brought the resolution forward at Jan. 26th meeting and lo and behold the Board approved her absence so she will not be disqualified.
Ms. Shahbazi was absent on March 13, April 3, May 26, June 23 and September 22nd. There were only 8 Library Board meetings in 2020. She was in attendance at the January 26, 2021 meeting.

The first Public Library Board meeting of the year is on Tuesday January 26th at 5pm.
According to Library CEO Darren Solomon the Board will be discussing the disqualification of member Mahnaz Shahbazi.
According to the Public Library Act, Ms. Shahbazi is disqualified from sitting on the Board as she missed 4 consecutive meetings out of the 8 meetings held in 2020.
According to Richmond Hill Public Library CEO Darren Solomon the Library Board will discuss the disqualification of member Mahnaz Shahbazi at their next Board meeting on January 26, 2021.
The Public Library Act states that when a member is disqualified the remaining members shall declare the seat vacant and notify Council.
According to Richmond Hill Public Library Board Minutes, Board member Mahnaz Shahbazi has missed Library Board meetings over 4 consecutive months and when watching the livestream it also appeared that she was not in attendance at the Tuesday September 22, 2020 meeting.
Ms. Shahbazi sent regrets on March 13, April 3, May 26 and June 23. There were no meetings scheduled in July and August.
According to both the Richmond Hill Public Library Board By-law Policy and the Public Library Act Ms. Shahbazi is now disqualified to be a Library Board Member as she has missed meetings for 4 consecutive months and there is no mention in any of the Minutes that she received authorization by Board resolution to miss these meetings.
A request for Ms. Shahbazi's removal from the Library Board has been sent to both Library CEO Darren Solomon and Board Chair Councillor Greg Beros.
